During the whale season (July to October), Hermanus, which is 140 km from Cape Town, is known as the worlds best land based whale watching destination.

The coastal village of Gansbaai is close to Hermanus and it is from there that that you can experience the Great White Shark in its natural habitat. You have probably seen documentaries about the Great White on Discovery Channel, The BBC or National Geographic. Most of them have been filmed in these waters where the highly qualified shark experts will take you. Nowhere else on earth can natural predation involving Great Whites be seen on such a regular basis. With some luck, you too can witness this remarkable creature. You may choose to stay on the boat or get in the dive cage. Diving equipment is included.
